The Great White

I had the pleasure of playing the Great White. It is a Greg Norman Signature Course and is said to be the only course in the southeastern United State that utilizes coquina - crushed shells - as a primary design element on every hole. The Great White is a delightful blend of strategically demanding fairways with hundreds of palm trees and Scottish-style bunkers. It has water on fourteen of the eighteen fairways, making it very challenging and beautiful. There are three beautiful par 3's on the front nine. One of which is hole 8, an island green with no bailout areas... you're just have trust your swing! There are two par 5's, from the tips, hole 1 is 513 yds and hole 5 is 572 yds.

On the back nine hole 11 is not only very picturesque, it is set up to take your picture. You can purchase a copy at the pro shop after your round. There are three par 5's on the back nine, the longest of which is hole 14 a fabulous 602 yds. I loved this course... it has what it takes for a fun and challenging golf game. Each hole gives you some kind of challenge to manage, you are constantly asked to use good judgement and course management. There are matchbook size greens and the pin placements will test your nerves. The greens run smooth with just the right speed for an amature like myself.
